Our visit to Judy Conways Garden in Hout Bay was really wonderful.
We were lucky enough to have beautiful weather for June, for this creative and carefully designed garden.
With everything on an incline and with the majestic Table Mountain in the backdrop, this makes for an inspiring visit.
Many different plants are in this rocky forest garden - indigenous and other plants are mixed happily together around the many pathways.
As Judy chats about how the design came about, she tells us how the rocky terrain made planning difficult. Sometimes a path simply had to go the other way -
because we came across a big rock!
There are many things of interest here - from the carefully sculpted topiary, to the wonderful pots... the vertical garden, the owls and the colourful plexiglass panels which spread beautiful coloured sunrays onto the pebble area.
I hope our members went home fully inspired - I know I did!
Thanks again to Judy and her hospitality.
Judy is an American writer, and proceeds from our visit went to her Gardeners' Pension fund.
